CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Willie Clayton and Mike Thorne Jr. both scored 14 points and gathered nine rebounds as Charlotte handled Old Dominion 74-63 on Sunday.

Charlotte (15-13, 6-9 Conference USA) shot 52 percent from the floor. Marcus Bryan added 10 points and Pierria Henry had 10 assists to go with seven points. The 49ers held a 35-25 rebounding advantage and had assists on 21 of their 30 baskets.

Aaron Bacote led Old Dominion (14-16, 8-7) with 17 points. Ambrose Mosley added 12 points while Dimitri Batten had 10 for the Monarchs.

Charlotte used a 14-4 run in the middle of the first half - six by Clayton - to lead 32-26 at the break.

The 49ers went up by 17 points just over 7 minutes after intermission on Shawn Lester’s 3-pointer, and kept ODU at arm’s length the rest of the way.
