SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Northern Indiana authorities say a South Bend woman and her two small dogs have died after a freight train struck her car at a crossing.

St. Joseph County police say the collision Sunday morning killed 60-year-old Vicky Long of South Bend. Witnesses tell officers the woman drove her car around crossing arms and into the path of the train at a Norfolk Southern crossing just west of South Bend Regional Airport.

Police say it appears all warning systems were working at the time of the crash.
