CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Carlsbad man is recovering after the pickup truck he was driving veered off the road and down a cliff in the Rocky Arroyo area.

Cory Lemon says he fell asleep while driving last Sunday night from Carlsbad to the small community of Queen.

Lemon told the Carlsbad Current-Argus ( that he woke up when the wheels on the passenger side of his truck went off the pavement.

His truck went about 100 feet down the cliff to the bottom of a ravine.

Lemon used his cellphone to call a friend in Queen and get help.

His mother help search for Lemon, who was airlifted to a Carlsbad hospital.

Other than suffering bruises over most of his body, Lemon says he’s OK and he returned home from the hospital Tuesday.
