JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - House Speaker Mike Chenault says lawmakers still hope to have their work done before Easter.
Session is scheduled to end April 20, Easter Sunday. Legislative leaders have said they’d like to be done by April 18, Good Friday.
But Chenault also said the House will do its due diligence on a bill to advance a major liquefied natural gas project, which came over from the Senate this week. He says if lawmakers need more time to finish their work, they’ll stay until they’re done.
House Resources, which has been holding briefings on issues related to the project, plans to hear the bill, SB138, over the next two weeks. SB138 has been referred to two additional House committees.
Other outstanding issues include state budgets, addressing the unfunded pension liability and education.
