BOSTON (AP) - The Massachusetts Port Authority is proposing parking rate increases at Logan International Airport to cover increasing parking costs and services to encourage people to seek options other than driving.
Massport wants to raise rates for the central garages by $2 to $3 up to a maximum of $30 a day, and a maximum $21 a day in the economy lot. If its board approves April 17, the rates would take effect July 1. The board will consider similar increases for 2016.
The rate for the first hour of parking would remain at $6 dollars to keep short-term parking affordable and avoid curbside congestion.
The last increase in 2012 raised rates $3 per day.
The increase will help fund a new shuttle bus parking garage in Framingham and a new shuttle bus service from Boston’s Back Bay.
