CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - The owners of a diner in Cranston are vowing to reopen it as soon as possible after an early morning fire damaged the building.

Firefighters told WPRI-TV ( ) that they responded to the blaze at the Miss Cranston Diner on Oaklawn Avenue at about 2 a.m. Friday. Eyewitness video showed flames shooting out of the diner’s roof.

Officials say one person at the scene was taken to a hospital for a medical condition not related to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. City officials remained at the scene Friday morning.

Family members who own the diner say they’ll repair the damage and reopen as soon as they can.
