ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - A steal and free throw in the closing seconds by Platte-Geddes’ Coby Johnson’s preserved a 59-56 win over Ethan Friday in the semifinals of the South Dakota Class B boys basketball tournament.
Johnson stole the ball from Blake Bartscher as he worked toward a potential game-tying basket with 5 seconds left. Johnson made one free throw with .6 seconds left.
Johnson finished with 19 points for the Black Panthers (19-6). Carter Dytkstra had 23 points and six rebounds. Kole Heller added 11 points.
Bartscher finished with a game-high 25 points for the Rustlers (21-4). He was 8-for-20 from the floor and had three 3-pointers.
Camden Myers had 18 points and nine rebounds.
