JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) - Lane County sheriff’s officers say an 81-year-old man called 911 to report he had shot and wounded his 37-year-old son during a fight at the home they shared in the Junction City, Ore., area. Officials say the son later died of his injuries.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/ywuFwg ) that Billy Thomas House reported the shooting late Friday night.

Sheriff’s officers said Monday that the victim, Billy Raymond House, died at a Springfield hospital.

The older man was interviewed by sheriff’s investigators. Lane County prosecutors will review the case to determine whether the shooting was a crime or a legally justified act of self-defense.

Sgt. David Bones says it was unclear whether the older man suffered any injuries.

No additional details were released.
