PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with one of a series of fires set in Portland over the weekend.

Police say Robert Johnson was charged Monday with Class A arson in connection with a small trash fire behind the Portland Museum of Art on Sunday night.

The fire was quickly extinguished and property damage was minimal.

City firefighters responded to nine fires last weekend, mostly in trash bins and garbage cans. No one was injured.

Investigators are trying to determine if they are related to the art museum fire.

Johnson is being held on $10,000 bail at the Cumberland County Jail. He refused the Portland Press Herald’s request for an interview.
