GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a parolee who was accidentally released from the Jefferson County jail on Tuesday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Damon Elliot Slayton was being held in the jail in Golden on a parole violation. Officials are trying to figure out why he was released but say they don’t suspect foul play.

The sheriff’s office says he served time for theft, burglary and robbery.
