POPLARVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The state Court of Appeals has upheld the life in prison without parole sentence give a Pearl River County man in a 2011 slaying.
Kevin A. Reynolds was convicted in 2012 of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Pearl River County.
Prosecutor say 55-year-old Kevin Martin Vandrell was shot to death in 2011 at his home in Carriere. They say the shooting was the result of an earlier argument among neighbors, including Reynolds.
Reynolds was sentenced to 10 years on the firearm charge, with the sentences running at the same time.
The Appeals Court on Tuesday denied Reynolds’ argument that his lawyer should have done a better job. The court said much of what Reynolds’ complained of could be considered trial strategy.
