DALLAS, Ore. (AP) - Polk County Sheriff Bob Wolfe says patrol hours will be cut from 20 hours a day to 10 hours a day because of budget and staffing reductions.

The sheriff says the reduced patrols start next week.

Three deputies have left the sheriff’s office in the past two months, and a fourth has accepted a conditional job offer elsewhere.

The sheriff’s office has not had full-time coverage since last March. County voters in November rejected a public safety levy that would have restored coverage.
