MIAMI (AP) - Nearly two dozen people have been charged in a retail theft investigation across South Florida and in Orlando.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will hold a press conference Thursday to give further details on the investigation.

Authorities say 23 people were charged in the joint investigation that went as far north as the Orlando area. Police arrested on Thursday all those involved in the organized crime enterprise, from the shoplifting thieves to those who sold the stolen goods.

The organized crime ring is estimated to have $15 million in stolen merchandise.

Also participating in the press event are officials with Miami-Dade County and Doral Police departments, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Jerry Demings of Orange County, and representatives of Homeland Security Investigations.
