ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A homeless man must spend 30 to 60 years in prison for beating a doctor with a paper punch while burglarizing her northwestern Pennsylvania office, and three unrelated break-ins.

The Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/1jPOlwa) reports 32-year-old Eddie I. Johnson, received the sentence Wednesday in the May 28 attack on Dr. Justine Schober.

Johnson’s attorney had argued Schober was beaten in connection with protracted divorce proceedings, and Johnson still insists he didn’t attack the woman.

But Erie County prosecutors say there’s no evidence that Schober’s then-estranged husband was involved. Prosecutors noted a witness bought Schober’s Kindle tablet reader from Johnson, and that Johnson told his girlfriend details of the crime that only Johnson would know - including the type of object Johnson used to beat Schober.
