PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police say a woman spent hours trapped in her vehicle after it went off a highway and plunged down in a ravine near the southeast Oregon community of Rome.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says 32-year-old Tarah Colwell of Meridian, Idaho, was taken by ambulance Wednesday night to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, where she was treated and released.

Hastings says Oregon Department of Transportation workers spotted the vehicle at about 7 p.m. off the highway in the sparsely populated area. They hiked down an estimated 100 yards and discovered the woman trapped inside.

Colwell told the ODOT workers she had been stuck in the damaged vehicle since early that morning.

Hastings says the vehicle might not be recoverable.
