ELLISVILLE, Miss. (AP) - At least eight cars of a northbound freight train ran off railroad tracks near Ellisville and authorities say there were no injuries.

Rodney Parker, with the Jones County Emergency Management, says the rails under the 19 cars were damaged but only eight cars ran off the tracks.

He says the locomotive and two of the derailed cars have been re-railed and removed from the scene.

He says the accident happened around 4:15 a.m. Friday. Parker says the Norfolk Southern train was northbound when the cars ran off the track.

He said none of the cars overturned and there was no hazardous material involved.

He said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Officials say the Highway 590 overpass at Highway 11 where the cars derailed has reopened.
