NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City believe an elderly gunman critically injured another man and killed a woman before turning the gun on himself.

Police say officers found the 82-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head outside of a car on Staten Island at 6 p.m. Friday. He was taken to a hospital where he’s listed in critical condition.

They say a preliminary investigation has determined the elderly suspect shot a 47-year-old man as he approached a home about a block away from the car. They say he then fatally shot the 28-year-old woman in the head inside the house before fleeing to the car and shooting himself. The woman was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police didn’t disclose the identities of the gunman or the victims.
