RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has convicted a Riverton teenager of homicide and aggravated assault for his role in killing a man and beating a woman on a bike trail last September.

The Riverton Ranger (https://bit.ly/1dUdq5i ) reports 16-year-old Santana Mendoza pleaded guilty Thursday before Judge Norman E. Young in Lander District Court.

Mendoza told Young he didn’t know why he and his then-15-year-old co-defendant, John Potter of Riverton, killed David Ronald Moss Jr. and beat Alleeah Crispin unconscious on Sept. 4.

Mendoza faces a maximum of 30 years in prison when he’s sentenced later.

Potter pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aiding and abetting aggravated assault in February and also faces a maximum of 30 years in prison when he’s sentenced later.
