BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Billings police have arrested a man on charges of raping a 6-year-old girl and possessing child pornography.

The Billings Gazette reported Friday (https://tinyurl.com/p8x9we4 ) 44-year-old James Hubert Hopkins faces four counts of sexual intercourse without consent and 18 counts of sexual abuse of children.

He was being held at the Yellowstone County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond. Online jail records didn’t indicate whether he had an attorney, and no phone number could be found for him.

Police say Hopkins denied having any sexual contact with the girl.

Charging documents say the girl’s mother told police Hopkins and his wife had been baby sitters for the girl between May and November 2012, when the mother learned of the alleged abuse.

The documents say that’s when the investigation began.
