SEAFORD, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a man with drug offenses after he allegedly tossed packages of heroin from his car during a chase.

It happened about 7 p.m. Thursday in Seaford. Police say a trooper saw a car run a stop sign and pulled the driver over.

Authorities say when the trooper went to the car, the driver sped off. Police say the trooper followed in his patrol car and saw the driver twice throw items out of his vehicle.

The fleeing vehicle stopped and the driver was taken into custody. Troopers say 4.8 grams of heroin and rounds of ammunition in a surgical glove were recovered on the road.

Twenty-three-year-old Jarell Rodriguez of Seaford was arrested and charged with numerous drug and traffic offenses.
