NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Police are investigating a possible case of embezzlement by an employee at a New Bedford car dealership.

Ashley Ford President Bob Bancroft says as much as $20,000 may have been stolen.

Bancroft tells The Standard-Times (https://bit.ly/1jD3PYH ) that the business became aware of the missing money when they ran a quarterly internal report in mid-November or December.

He says it appears as if the money was taken during cash transactions for repair jobs, but several people handle the cash so it’s too early to apportion blame.

New Bedford police say they are looking into the case but have not made any arrests.
