BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man who was free on bail while awaiting sentencing for beating and robbing a man has been shot to death.

Police say Jeremy Thompson was killed in his Buffalo apartment less than two weeks after he and two others pleaded guilty in an attack that left the victim with broken arms, a concussion, stab wound and other injuries.

The Buffalo News (https://bit.ly/1gy8cRB ) reports Friday that the Erie County District Attorney’s office had asked that Thompson’s bail be revoked after the plea, but that the 27-year-old had been freed on $100,000 bail.

He was shot Wednesday by an unknown gunman while awaiting his July 11 sentencing.

Police say there are indications that Thompson’s death was in retaliation for the beating.
