ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a police shooting in Atlantic City that left a man dead.

The incident began Thursday after police responded to a report of a man with a gun at a restaurant in Pleasantville.

Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain says a motor vehicle chase followed through Egg Harbor Township and Ventnor before officers exchanged gunfire with 27-year-old Antoquan Watson of Williamstown in Atlantic City. He was pronounced dead at the scene at the intersection of Missouri and Atlantic avenues.

The prosecutor has not said which police officers shot Watson.
