KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a man pulled in the Mississippi River as that of a 45-year-old Muscatine man.

The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department tells the Burlington Hawk Eye (https://bit.ly/1ld24yx) that it was Thomas Charles Newcomb’s body that was pulled from the river near Keokuk on Wednesday.

Authorities say Newcomb had jumped in December from a bridge in Muscatine.

Chief Deputy C.J. Ryan said Newcomb was identified Friday through medical and dental records during an autopsy conducted in Ankeny.

His body was discovered Wednesday afternoon by Ameren power plant workers.
