SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Trevor John had 23 points in Monte Vista’s 66-55 win over Centennial in the California Division I Boys’ championship at Sleep Train Arena.

Grant Jackson added 12 points for the Monte Vista Mustangs of Danville (32-1).

Sedrick Barefield scored 16 points for the Centennial Huskies of Corona (29-4).

John made five 3-point shots in the first quarter to give Monte Vista a 20-12 lead.

Centennial was down as many as 10 points in the first half, though surged back to trail 35-28 at the half.

John didn’t make a single basket in the third quarter, but the rest of the Mustangs ended the period leading 51-34.

The Huskies never got closer than nine points in the fourth quarter.
