HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The General Assembly’s tax-writing committee is expected to vote on its response to Gov. Dannel Malloy’s revenue proposals for the new fiscal year, including a tax rebate.

Members of the Finance Revenue and Bonding Committee have until April 4 to act on a tax package. The panel is expected to vote on Tuesday.

Malloy appeared optimistic Friday that his proposed $55-per-person tax rebate will be included in the final budget, which will need to be negotiated over the coming weeks between him and state legislators. The Democratic governor said lawmakers know “that I believe very strongly” it should be included.

Last week, the legislature’s Appropriations Committee approved a revised $19.04 billion state spending plan - $12.3 million more than what Malloy recommended for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
