CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina deputies say they arrested the former president of the organization behind the Coastal Carolina Fair after the group found nearly $200,000 missing from its accounts.

Investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say 57-year-old Dennis Lott of Goose Creek was arrested during a traffic stop late Friday. He was expected to have a bond hearing Saturday. A warrant issued for Lott’s arrest accuses him of breach of trust.

Lott said earlier Friday that he believed the situation would be resolved soon.

Authorities say the former Exchange Club of Charleston president wrote a $190,000 check to himself from a rainy day reserve fund for the fair and cashed it in July.

The organization says it gave more than $650,000 from last year’s fair to charities in the area.
