JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - An Anchorage senator has introduced legislation seeking to bar municipal employees from engaging in partisan political activity while traveling on local government business.

SB205, from Sen. Berta Gardner, would require municipalities to adopt ordinances barring elected municipal officials or other municipal employee from engaging in partisan political activity - like fundraising - when city or borough money is used to pay for the travel.

The bill, introduced last week, has been referred to three committees.
