BOSTON (AP) - Mayor Martin Walsh has announced the selection of a consulting firm to conduct a nationwide search for a new fire commissioner.

The mayor’s office said Monday that Facets Consulting of Phoenix has been hired to oversee the search for a successor to Roderick Fraser. The search will take place in several phases, and a final list of candidates is expected to be presented to the mayor in late spring.

The firm did a review of the Boston department in 2010 and has worked with clients including the International Association of Fire Chiefs, International Association of Fire Fighters and International Fire Service Training Association.

Fraser submitted his resignation to former Mayor Thomas Menino in December and left in January, saying it was time for him to do something different.
