GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - A Shelby, N.C., man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of a teen near Myrtle Beach.
Twenty-one-year-old Adam Dwiggins entered the plea in the 2011 death of 17-year-old Michael Dalton Fitch of Shelby.
Dwiggins was charged in August 2011 with stabbing Fitch during a fight at the Ocean Lakes Campground.
Horry County Police Lt. Raul Denis said Fitch and Dwiggins both attended Crest High School but had not gone to the beach together.
Fitch died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center about 90 minutes after being stabbed.
