PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Rhode Island House of Representatives will soon have a new member.

Michael Morin, a Democrat, is set to be sworn in Tuesday after winning last month’s election to replace former Rep. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, who is now the mayor of Woonsocket. Morin beat out two other Democrats in the primary and was unopposed in the special election.

The 48-year-old is a captain in the Woonsocket Fire Department and is the former president of the local firefighters’ union.

Secretary of State Ralph Mollis plans to administer the oath of office to Morin during the House session Tuesday.
