PHOENIX (AP) - Bond is set at $150,000 for a man accused in hit-and-run accident in Youngtown that killed a golf cart driver.

Eric Ray Aldava had his initial court appearance Monday after being arrested on suspicion of reckless manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies say the 26-year-old Aldava, of Surprise, initially fled the scene of Saturday night’s accident but later returned with family members.

Deputies say Aldava told them he fled the scene because he panicked. But MCSO officials say Aldava appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

Witnesses say Aldava ran a red light at an intersection. The crash killed the driver of the golf cart, identified as Robert Serynek.

Aldava doesn’t have a lawyer yet.
