CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. (AP) - The Coast Guard says a stricken tanker ship crewmember is recovering at a North Carolina hospital after needing a rescue about 20 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras.

The Coast Guard said one of its helicopters collected the 54-year-old man early Sunday from the 576-foot ship “Pennsylvania.” The tanker ship’s master reported that the crewman was suffering from chest pain and needed medical care.

The helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City hoisted the man from the ship and sent him on his way to Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
