PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety says five people have died in a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 10.

The Arizona Republic reports (https://goo.gl/0vXF5Q) that the five, including three children, died Saturday evening after their pickup truck collided with a semi-truck.

DPS spokesman Sgt. Raul Garcia said 49-year-old Shelley Renee Blackmore and 20 -year-old Danielle Blackmore were pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed were children ages 12, 12 and 8.

Garcia says the driver, Tracy Blackmore, was taken to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries.

Police say all were from Gilbert, Ariz.

Authorities believe the tire tread on the front left tire separated, causing Tracy Blackmore to lose control of his truck northwest of Picacho Peak.

Garcia says the man driving the semi-truck suffered minor injuries.
