CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A Clarksburg man will spend a year in prison after pleading guilty to attempted escape.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Monday that 28-year-old Michael Mathena left the Bannum Place Halfway House in Clarksburg on Nov. 4, 2013. He was arrested in Monongah on Nov. 19.

Mathena was confined at the halfway house while serving the remainder of his sentence for violating supervised release.

He was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on the escape charge.
