FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Some commuters in the metropolitan New York City area woke up to an unwelcome surprise.

Around an inch of snow covered vehicles and stuck to roads during the Monday morning rush-hour in Farmingdale, on Long Island. The National Weather Service said there could be rain, sleet and snow until around 1 p.m.

A dusting of snow also appeared north of the city, in Westchester County.

The better news: Temperatures could hit 48 to 50 degrees later Monday; 52 to 54 degrees on Tuesday; and 54 to 57 degrees on Wednesday.
