PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A jury says it’s deadlocked on the most serious charge against a Philadelphia man on trial in the death of his girlfriend’s toddler son.
The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1lyN54P) said jurors reported Monday that they couldn’t reach a decision on a charge of third-degree murder in the case against 30-year-old Joseph Zysk, who is on trial for the 2011 beating death of 3-year-old Jason Larkin Jr.
The jury didn’t say if they had yet considered the lesser homicide count of involuntary manslaughter.

They will return Tuesday for a third full day of deliberations.
Prosecutor John O’Neill said Zysk lost his temper and punched Jason repeatedly because the toddler was crying.
Defense attorney Evan Hughes says the case is a terrible tragedy but it’s not murder.
