ATTALLA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a Rainbow City man has died after a head-on crash with a tractor trailer on Interstate 59.

Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head says the 26-year-old driver was in a Volkswagen Jetta and the impact pushed his car about 300 feet down the interstate. The man’s identity hasn’t been released.

Attalla Police Chief Dennis Walker (https://bit.ly/Pb5aIr ) tells the Gadsden Times a police officer suffered minor injuries while responding to the accident.

A car skid on an oil slick that was created during the accident and rear ended the officer’s vehicle. Authorities say another vehicle also hit the car that crashed into the police officer.
