LURAY, Va. (AP) - A Stanley man is recovering after being gored by an American bison that escaped from a farm.
The Daily News-Record (https://bit.ly/1jo4v1g ) reports that 41-year-old James Dill was trying to herd the bison and several others when the animal ran him down and pierced him in the leg with one of its horns.
Dill tells the newspaper that he was driving by when he saw the bison. He says he was trying to prevent a traffic hazard.
The incident occurred last Wednesday night. Stanley was released from the hospital the next day. He says he’s not sure if his leg suffered permanent damage.
