EMBDEN, Maine (AP) - Police say a second person involved in a head-on crash in Embden last week has died.
Authorities announced Monday that 67-year-old Ruth Souweine, of Bangor, died Sunday from injuries sustained in the two-car accident on Route 16 last Thursday.
Souweine was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her husband, who was also injured.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department says 22-year-old Jennifer Nile, of Embden, a passenger in the other vehicle involved, died at the scene.
Police say Mark Schobel of North Anson was driving east when he tried to pass another eastbound vehicle and collided with a westbound car driven by 67-year-old Leon Souweine.
The crash remains under investigation.
