SHIAWASSEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of robbing a Lansing-area bank led police on a high-speed chase and later hanged himself in a deer blind following a standoff.

Shiawassee County Sheriff George Braidwood tells The Associated Press he expects to release the man’s name Wednesday once relatives are notified.

The Lansing State Journal and The Flint Journal report the robbery happened Monday afternoon in Ingham County’s Meridian Township.

Authorities say the man fled in a car on Interstate 69 before crashing into the median and running into the woods in neighboring Shiawassee County. State police and sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter after footprints were seen leading to the deer blind in Shiawassee Township.

Authorities say they monitored the deer blind for several hours before entering and finding the man’s body.
