EARLVILLE, Iowa (AP) - A 36-year-old driver was fatally injured when a railroad locomotive hit his car in northeast Iowa.

Authorities say the accident occurred around 4:45 a.m. Monday in Earlville. The Iowa State Patrol says the eastbound locomotive hit the passenger side of a southbound car driven by Jose Moncada-Nava, of Dyersville. The car came to rest about 50 feet from where it was hit.

Moncada-Nava was pronounced dead later at Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
