WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) - A man accused in a carjacking in Wahpeton late last year has been sentenced to probation.

Thirty-one-year-old Matthew Dumarce was accused of taking a van at knifepoint last Dec. 14. Authorities say he abandoned the vehicle after a police chase and was arrested later across the border in Minnesota.

Dumarce had come to Wahpeton from Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1hFtEUk ) that Dumarce recently reached a plea deal with prosecutors in which he was given credit for the 74 days he had served in jail and was sentenced to two years of supervised probation on felony charges of theft of property and fleeing from police. He also was ordered to pay $500 restitution to the van’s owner.
