CINCINNATI (AP) - A prosecutor’s spokeswoman says no charges will be filed in the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old Cincinnati boy who police say was killed while one of his brothers was playing with a loaded gun he thought was a BB gun.

Spokeswoman Julie Wilson said Tuesday that prosecutors determined no charges were appropriate against the children or any adult.

Police say 8-year-old Sammy Lorenzo was shot in the chest Saturday while the boy and his two brothers were visiting their uncle. Police say the boys found the loaded handgun and one pulled the trigger, striking the 8-year-old. He died at a hospital.

Derek Mauk, whose wife was one of Sammy’s teachers, says a website has been set up to collect donations to help with the memorial service.
