EARLVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Investigators say no foul play is suspected in a fatal house fire that killed two people in the rural northern Illinois community of Earlville.

Sunday’s fire killed 53-year-old Matthew W. Jones and 49-year-old Dawn M. Williams.

DeKalb County Sheriff Chief Deputy Gary Dumdie tells The (DeKalb) Daily-Chronicle that Jones was trying to extinguish the flames, which eventually engulfed the home.

One person escaped with minor injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Earlville is about 25 miles south of DeKalb.
