RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - The head of a horse rescue group has settled state and federal lawsuits against the Suffolk SPCA.

The suits were filed by Mona Kanciper (KAN’-sih-pur) of New York Horse Rescue. It followed her arrest then exoneration on charges she was abusing horses.

It was settled on Monday afternoon in state Supreme Court in Riverhead. Terms were not disclosed.

Kanciper said in a statement she was looking forward to continuing her work with New York Horse Rescue and Butler Farms.

Chief Roy Gross says the SPCA is pleased to resolve the matter and wishes Kanciper well in her future endeavors.
