NEW YORK (AP) - A former train maintenance foreman has been sentenced to about three years in prison for his role in the Long Island Rail Road disability claims scandal.

Newsday (https://bit.ly/1kz0Ekc ) says Fred Catalano of Nesconset was sentenced Wednesday in Manhattan federal court to 37 months.

Catalano also was ordered to pay back $62,000 to the federal Railroad Retirement Board.

Prosecutors obtained convictions or guilty pleas from all 33 doctors, consultants and retirees charged in the case. The employees received disability payments by exaggerating or making up ailments.
