SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Authorities in Montgomery County say a girl was seriously injured while sledding in Silver Spring.

Fire and rescue officials say the girl was injured while sledding on a hill near Takoma Park Middle School on Piney Branch Road on Tuesday afternoon. Crews had to use several hundred feet of rope to rescue the girl from the bottom of the hill.
