RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) - The Butler Snow law firm is expanding in Alabama, adding 19 attorneys to its office in Birmingham.

A spokesman for the firm said the expansion will bring its national staff of attorneys to nearly 280, with a total of 24 in Birmingham.

Chairman Donald Clark Jr. says Birmingham is a strategically important market as Butler Snow continues a previously announced national expansion.

In February, the firm expanded its public finance, tax incentives and credit markets practice group with five attorneys in Denver and four in Atlanta and Macon, Ga.

The firm also recently expanded into the New York market. It has 17 offices around the world and is based in Ridgeland.

Butler Snow’s Birmingham office is downtown at One Federal Plaza.

Attorney’s joining the office as part of the expansion in Birmingham are Brad Anderson, Austin Averitt, James Barton, Jr., Katie Boyd Britt, Sarah Hoffmann, Russell Irby, Michael Johnson, David Kinman, Jerome Lanning, , Henry Sprott Long III, , Margaret Loveman, Alan Mathis, Bradley Mayhew, Randall McClanahan, Angie Godwin McEwen, T. Kurt Miller, , E. Alston Ray, J. William Rose Jr. and Caroline Walker.
