BESSEMER CITY, N.C. (AP) - Some parents and others in Bessemer City are complaining about a YouTube video that shows young people rapping while flashing cash and a handgun in a public park.

The video with plenty of profanity also has drug references with young people smoking, although it is not clear what they are using.

The creators call the video a Bessemer City anthem.

City manager James Inman says complaints started almost immediately after the video went online last month. The police department is investigating to determine whether the gun in the video is real.

Inman says city officials are worried about the safety of people visiting parks and other locations where the video was shot.

“We’ve increased patrols. We’ve actually had an officer get out and walk on foot when people are out there,” he said.

No charges have been filed at this point.

“We’re going to have a zero tolerance for any misbehavior on city property. There won’t be any warnings. People will go to jail,” Inman said.
